Inside FORTIFIED Home™

The roof is the first line of defense to protect homes from severe weather. Making sure it is installed correctly with all the necessary components to keep water out and the roof deck attached are critical. By keeping the roof system in place and water out, we can break the cycle of hardship and speed up recovery after severe weather by minimizing the damage to homes, protecting personal mementos like photo albums and family heirlooms, giving you the ability to get back to a more normal life quicker. To help roofers install roof assemblies that meet FORTIFIED requirements, we have developed a series of short, easy to follow videos and one-page “how-to” guides (in English and Spanish) called “Inside FORTIFIED”. Based on the more than 20 years of cutting edge research and science done by IBHS, these videos cover the installation and documentation of key FORTIFIED components to help installers successfully meet FORTIFIED requirements for steep slope roof assemblies. These resources were developed to work in conjunction with our FORTIFIED Wise Roofer training program.
